There was a time when our own thrifty lifestyles were motivated largely by our desperate circumstances. However, as our circumstances have changed, we have stumbled upon a better reason to save, to be frugal, and to live with less. In a world where rampant consumerism is promoted and sickening poverty and want is commonly ignored, there is a greater need for charity than ever before. We must be more concerned with what we give and worry less about what we have. Charity not only blesses the receiver, but it changes the heart of the giver. When we give, we are more grateful for what we have, and a heart full of gratitude has no room for greed.
David A. Bednar recently gave a beautiful sermon on the life changing blessings of tithing. To hear this wonderful lesson on the blessings that come from giving: please click here.
